More about the series SkyQuest...

The Orion SkyQuest telescope:

The optics of this Newtonian reflector telescope are of Orion's customary high quality. The soda lime glass mirror is supplied with high-quality aluminium and silicon dioxide coatings. Focusing on models up to 150mm aperture is via a 1.25" rack-and-pinion drive, and from 203mm aperture a 2" Crayford focuser is used.

The Dobsonian base turns on smoothly running Teflon bearings, so allowing jerk-free, effortless movement of the telescope. The tube holds position as it is suspended in perfect balance. The components of the telescope are both easy to handle and light; the telescope is eminently portable and can be assembled in just a few steps and without specialist knowledge or tools. The entire construction distinguishes itself by its insensitivity to wind and its stability.

The XT-Plus offers some improvements over the classic version

  • friction brake on the altitude axis also allows the use of heavy eyepieces
  • solar filter for safely observing the Sun
  • Crayford focuser with reduction ratio for fine focusing adjustment
  • 2" wide-field eyepiece
  • Barlow lens
  • eyepiece tray
  • star map

N 254/1200 telescope - this Newtonian telescope has a large aperture for detailed deep sky observing, collecting almost three times as much light as a 114mm telescope. While only the cores of many galaxies can be seen in smaller telescopes, this telescope will also show spiral structure. Fascinating globular clusters can also be observed through this giant, some filling the entire field of view with numerous individually resolved stars.

Nothing stands in the way of your lifelong enjoyment of the night sky with a telescope of this size.

This aperture represents the practicable upper limit for portable enclosed OTA Newtonians. Larger aperture instruments are only easy transportable if of truss-tube design. However, an enclosed OTA has certain advantages - it holds collimation better, the optics are better protected, there is no stray light problem and, of course, they are quicker to set up.

It not only matters which telescope you buy but also where you buy it. Our additional services:

  • We are a leading telescope dealer and know the devices we sell. Our customer service team will gladly help you after your purchase if you have problems with assembly or operation.
  • We provide a copy of the 80-page Telescope ABC beginners handbook with every telescope.
  • We also provide an edition of the exciting astronomy magazine, “Sterne und Weltraum” with each telescope.
