With this secondary mirror holder (also called spider), you can mechanically improve your Skywatcher Newton telescope: The holder is much stiffer and allows for significantly better collimation than the original.
The spider is made entirely of solid 6061 aluminium, matt black anodised and fits easily on Skywatcher Newtonian telescopes with an aperture and focal length of 200/1000 and 200/800. You can continue to use the original secondary mirror with its mount.
Here's how to convert:
- Remove the front ring from your Newton.
- Unscrew the secondary mirror with the secondary mirror spider from your Newton.
- Remove the secondary mirror with the holder from the secondary mirror spider. The secondary mirror remains on the holder.
- Screw the Artesky front ring with the secondary mirror spider to your Newton. The appropriate screws are included in the delivery.
- Attach the secondary mirror with the holder to the new spider using the screws provided.
It is best to collimate the secondary mirror with an alignment laser. Your improved Newtonian is now ready for observation or astrophotography.
