Filter against light pollution for astrophotography
This clip-on filter is specially designed for NIKON DSLR cameras of the D7000 series. It blocks artificial light pollution but retains natural colours (unlike UHC filters).
The most important features of the IDAS LPS-D1 nebulae filter:
- Specially designed for photography
- High-quality anti-reflection coating
- particularly scratch-resistant hard coating
- Absorption of urban stray light (mercury and sodium vapour lamps) and night glow
The IDAS LPS-D1 allows a twofold extension of the exposure time. The important lines in the deep sky range (e.g. H-Alpha and O III) are transmitted at 90%.
Put simply, you can expose twice as long until the sky background comes through, but the object appears much stronger and more contrasted against the background than without a filter.
Target objects:
Not only gas nebulae and planetary nebulae can be successfully enhanced in contrast with the IDAS city light filter – the balanced colour behaviour also allows images of star clusters and galaxies to be captured. Even from close to cities, images can be produced that are more reminiscent of a dark mountain sky.
The filter does not require an optical path.
This means that even very compact combinations (coma corrector/flattener) can be used where there is no space for a filter holder between the T2 or M48 connection and the camera. In addition, many telephoto lenses can also be used. The filter also protects the CCD chip from dust.
This clip filter is integrated into the Nikon camera body of the DX format cameras D7000.
The filter comes in a frame that fits loosely into the camera body. The filter is simply mounted carefully in the body of the Nikon DSLR camera.
IDAS Filters: Specialists in astrophotography
Light Pollution Suppression (LPS) filters block artificial light and leave natural colours unchanged. This is what distinguishes these filters from almost all UHC filters used in astrophotography. UHC filters are optimised for visual use and cause colouration of the sky background in photographs.
The most important features of the IDAS LPS D1:
- Specially designed for photography with DSLR cameras and single-shot astro cameras
- Also suitable for luminance photography with black-and-white cameras
- High-quality anti-reflection coating
- Particularly scratch-resistant hard coating
- Absorption of urban light pollution (mercury and sodium vapour lamps) and night glow
Exposure time extension - factor 2: The IDAS LPS D1 allows an exposure time extension by a factor of 2. However, 90% of the important lines in the deep sky range (e.g. H-Alpha and [O III]) are still transmitted. Put simply, you can expose twice as long until the sky background comes through, but the object appears much stronger and more contrasted against the background than without a filter.
