The ultimate star tracker for DSLR cameras: this palm-sized mount weighs only 720 grams, but can smoothly track a camera with a photo lens weighing up to 4 kilograms in the night sky. This is made possible by the modern Strainwave Gear (SWG). iOptron was the first manufacturer to install these gears in its astronomical mounts in accordance with industry standards. This experience now also benefits this tiny device.
The HST offers four tracking speeds: sidereal for deep sky objects, lunar for the moon, solar for the sun and ½ speed for photographing the sky with terrestrial objects in the foreground.
The DC stepper motor and its SWG drive train operate silently. Power is supplied by an internal Li-Poly battery, rechargeable via the included USB-C cable. However, an external 5-volt power bank can also be used, which is recommended for hours of exposure on cold nights or for travelling.
The CNC-milled metal housing is not only visually appealing, but also robust. A Vixen-standard prism rail is integrated into the housing. This allows the HST to be placed on a polar wedge with the appropriate clamp. However, the HST can also be mounted via the 3/8"
On the side of the housing there is a mounting for an optional pole finder telescope or the iPolar polar finder.
