ZEISS Axiocam Family
In contrast to digital cameras for photography or industrial inspection, many aspects of the microscope cameras are optimized to meet specific requirements of applications in science, research and documentation. As each application has very specific requirements, there is a wide range of different digital camera models to choose from. Different pixel sizes, for example, regulate camera sensitivity and spatial resolution. Lower pixel count enables higher frame rates and larger sensors offer better coverage of the field of view.

Your Clever 12 Megapixel Microscope Camera for Smart Digital Documentation
ZEISS Axiocam 212 color is your smart 12 megapixel color microscope camera suitable for education, documentation and routine applications. This CMOS camera delivers crisp, detail rich live images with high color fidelity at full 4k resolution in up to outstanding 30 fps.
- Flexible use: choose between modes of operation
- Fast live images: full 4K resolution in up to outstanding 30 fps
- Supports smart microscopy: the camera automatically adjusts parameter for you
Choose Between Modes of Operation
- Stand-alone mode: you don’t need a PC to acquire microscope images. The camera automatically adjusts brightness and white balance and offers live image enhancement functions like sharpening, denoising and HDR.
- Alternatively, connect the CMOS camera via USB, Ethernet or wirelessly via Wi-Fi dongle (optionally available) to a computer and the imaging software Labscope or ZEN. Since you can connect multiple cameras to the network, Axiocam 212 color is the ideal solution for digital classroom applications and for connected laboratories, too.
ZEISS Axiocam 212 color is Recommended for
- Documentation
- Education/Teaching
- Routine tasks
- Materials research
- Quality assurance/Quality control
- Fast high resolution live image for co-observation
Smart Digital Documentation
If you combine Axiocam 212 color with ZEISS Axiolab 5, Axioscope 5 or Axioscope 7 microscope stands you can experience the full concept of smart microscopy. The camera communicates with the microscope and always extracts the correct scaling information.
You benefit from:
- Automatic adjustments for high color and contrast reproducibility.
- An integrated system that saves you both space and money because no extra computer is needed.
- Image data completeness since all metadata, including scaling, are automatically stored with your images.
… and all it takes is just a simple press of the Snap button.
