ZEISS Axiocam Family
In contrast to digital cameras for photography or industrial inspection, many aspects of the microscope cameras are optimized to meet specific requirements of applications in science, research and documentation. As each application has very specific requirements, there is a wide range of different digital camera models to choose from. Different pixel sizes, for example, regulate camera sensitivity and spatial resolution. Lower pixel count enables higher frame rates and larger sensors offer better coverage of the field of view.

This camera with greatly reduced noise and high quantum efficiency is ideal for applications with highly sensitive samples. The combination of a large sensor and many small, light-sensitive pixels makes the Axiocam 712 mono an extremely flexible microscope camera that can be used in a wide variety of applications. The actively cooled CMOS sensor ensures very low image noise during readout and stable operation even over long periods of time. Exposure times range from 100 µs for highly dynamic samples to 60 s for the detection of very weak light signals.
At full pixel resolution, the Axiocam 712 mono delivers more than 20 frames per second, and at reduced pixel resolution, over 100 frames per second. A maximum quantum efficiency of over 72%, a broad detection spectrum and high NIR sensitivity round off the outstanding functional features. This makes Axiocam 712 mono an all-in-one solution that covers all monochrome imaging applications – from imaging large sample areas and dynamic samples to highly sensitive imaging of sensitive fluorescence samples.
