Even with telescopes that are permanently mounted in a fork, it can be useful to use a counterweight, namely when the centre of gravity is shifted due to the use of relatively heavy accessories. By balancing with a counterweight, the mount runs more smoothly and evenly and, above all, is more durable.
Our expert comment:
Please note that this product can only be attached to SC telescopes with fork mounts (Celestron CPC, Meade LX200, LX600)!
In addition, the rod is screwed in place with the cross screws that are factory-installed at the bottom of the tube. If your telescope has grub screws on the underside, please contact us so that we can send you a set of imperial cross screws for mounting the counterweight rod. These screws are not included in the Geoptik delivery.
