A polar wedge is required for the parallactic operation of a telescope that is mounted on a fork or single-arm mount.
The wedge is inserted between the tripod and the mount. By adjusting the polar wedge to the latitude of the observation site, the azimuth axis is tilted so that it is parallel to the Earth's axis. In this way, the polar wedge transforms the azimuth mount into a parallactic mount. This allows long exposure shots, as there is no image rotation with parallactic mounts.
The X-Wedge is suitable for Meade LX200, LX600 and LX90 (with optional adapter plate) telescopes. It offers much higher stability than its predecessor and is machined from solid aluminium.
