The BRESSER Messier EXOS 100 GOTO mount is a high-quality German equatorial mount for telescopes and cameras that automatically locates and tracks celestial objects. It can be controlled either via the hand controller with display and keypad, or conveniently via a Wi-Fi connection using a mobile device, laptop or PC. With a load capacity of up to 5 kg, it is ideally suited to both visual observations and astrophotography.
Sturdy mounting for telescopes and cameras
The Vixen-standard prism rail mount allows telescopes or cameras to be securely attached. The stainless-steel tripod with height-adjustable legs adapts flexibly to any observation location, whilst a 2 kg counterweight balances the weight of the telescope. Thanks to the battery compartment for eight C-cell batteries, you are not tied to a fixed mains socket when out and about – though you can also connect a power station (not included) for power supply if you wish.
Polar alignment made easy
A built-in spirit level indicates the exact horizontal position of the tripod, and the integrated pole finder tunnel allows for rough alignment with the North Celestial Pole. Fine-adjustment screws for polar height and azimuth can then be used to refine the setting even further. For those seeking exceptional accuracy, the optional polar finder scope (see recommended accessories) enables precise alignment, making the GoTo function and tracking even more reliable.
Automatic object search using the hand controller or via the app
The hand controller’s display and keypad form the central control interface for the mount. Initialisation requires alignment with up to three stars: simply centre the suggested stars in the eyepiece and confirm. Once alignment is complete, there are over 100,000 stored objects to choose from, which can be conveniently accessed at the touch of a button – including planets, constellations and Messier, NGC, IC, Sh2 and SAO objects. You can also target and save your own celestial coordinates. If you prefer to use a Smartphone or tablet to control the telescope, simply download the free app for iOS or Android. Once connected, you can navigate directly to interesting objects using the digital sky map. Favourites can be easily saved for your next observation session.
Precise tracking for long nights of observation
The tracking system automatically keeps an object in the field of view once it has been aligned. Depending on the observation target, you can choose between star, solar and lunar speeds. Eight different pan speeds are available for manual positioning. A low-noise toothed belt drive with a worm gear moves both axes smoothly. The mount uses synchronisation to align the position of a known object with the database. Additional RA and DEC backlash compensation ensures even greater precision by calibrating the gear backlash on both axes.
Computer control via USB-C and ASCOM
The hand controller can also be connected to a computer via a USB-C interface. This allows the mount to be conveniently controlled via ASCOM-compatible programmes such as Stellarium or N.I.N.A.
