Fans for schmidt-cassegrain and maksutov telescopes

This acclimatisation fan is designed to accelerate the temperature equalisation of the primary mirrors to the ambient temperature in schmidt-cassegrain (SC) or maksutov telescopes, thereby eliminating thermal turbulence for better image quality.

The fan significantly reduces the time required for acclimatisation and enhances its effectiveness, thereby improving the observing experience.

Function and Application

• Rapid acclimatisation: When a telescope is moved from a warm environment (e.g. indoors) to a colder one (outdoors), the primary mirrors initially retain a higher temperature. This temperature difference creates a boundary layer of turbulent, warm air over the optical surface, which distorts the observed image.
• Elimination of Turbulence: The fan attached to the rear of the telescope actively circulates air around the mirrors, removing the warm layer of air and promoting faster and more even heat exchange with the outside air.
• Better image quality: Using the fan significantly reduces the time taken to reach thermal equilibrium, allowing you to obtain sharp and stable images more quickly.

Instructions: Screw the adaptor (A) onto the body of the SC or MAK telescope. Press the fan (B) into the adaptor (A). Connect the fan cable to the power cable (C). Connect the power cable to a 12 V power source (e.g. a cigarette lighter socket). Generally, the mirror will have acclimatised after one hour of operation. The duration of acclimatisation may vary depending on the temperature conditions under which the telescope was previously stored.
