Universal flattener for apochromats, designed by optical designer Massimo Riccardi
A flattener "flattens" optical problems in the image field such as coma and astigmatism, resulting in an image that is as perfect as that on the optical axis itself. The Flattener Model 1 is specially designed for short focal lengths and faster aperture ratios and currently represents the limit of what is possible.
There is currently no comparable flattener on the market with such good apochromatic longitudinal and transverse aberration correction. Other cheaper models fall significantly short in comparison. This can be seen on the one hand in their significantly higher edge vignetting, but mainly in their drastically larger chromatic aberrations.
The new flattener allows a generous working distance of over 90 mm from the thread to the focus.
Model 1 is suitable for the following telescopes and telescopes with a similar aperture ratio:
- APM LZOS Apo 105 F/6.2
- APM Apo 107 F/6.5
- APM LZOS Apo 115 F/7
- APM LZOS Apo 123 F/6
- APM LZOS Apo 130 F/6
- APM Riccardi Apo Doublet 140 F/7
