The flattener is a lens that evens out the field, as this is slightly curved by the primary optics. This curvature causes stars that are imaged at the edge of the field of view to be less sharp. The flattener, also called a field flattener, corrects this effect. Astrophotographers can then enjoy images where the stars remain sharp right out to the edge of the exposure. The flattener is installed between the telescope and the camera.
The variable Artesky Flattener 1.0x works perfectly on refractors between 80mm and 155mm aperture and
enables a corrected field right to the edge – even with large sensors such as the full-frame format.
The special feature of this universal flattener is that it has an integrated variable adjustment system,
so you no longer have to worry about extension tubes and spacer rings to achieve the optimum distance for your telescope and sensor!
- Telescope connection via M63x1 thread - adaptors are available for other connections, e.g. M68x1
- Camera connection via M48x0.75 thread with integrated connection for 2" filters (to access the integrated filter thread, the 3 hexagon socket screws must be removed)
- The working distance can be adjusted with millimetre precision using an integrated fine adjustment mechanism
The corrector can be used on all refractors with an aperture of 80 mm and above (successfully tested up to 155 mm).
- 2-element design with special ED glass
- No reflections thanks to complete multi-coating and internal blackening
Working distances:
We recommend the following settings from the innermost position of the fine adjustment to the sensor of your camera:
80 mm aperture / aperture ratio f/6 - 81.2 mm
80 mm aperture / aperture ratio f/7 - 80.2 mm
102 mm aperture / aperture ratio f/7 - 75.3 mm
115 mm aperture / aperture ratio f/7 - 73.0 mm
130 mm aperture / aperture ratio f/7 - 69.7 mm
140 mm aperture / aperture ratio f/6.5 - 68.0 mm
155 mm aperture / aperture ratio f/8 - 57.0 mm
ATTENTION: The overview only shows the working distances tested for some products!
Other refractors may be compatible, but the working distance may need to be adjusted slightly.
