Reducer 0.63x / Corrector

The Celestron Focal Reducer and Field Corrector shortens the focal length of all schmidt-cassegrain telescopes by a factor of 0.63. The focal ratio changes by the same amount from 1:10 to 1:6.3, reducing the required exposure time by a factor of 3.

In addition to reducing the focal length, this optical element also flattens the slightly curved field of view of all schmidt-cassegrain telescopes. This provides a corrected, vignetting-free field of view with a diameter of 24 mm. The image is sharp, right into the corners!

The focal lengths of the Celestron SC telescopes change as follows:

• C-5: from 1250 to 788 mm/ f 6.3
• C-8: from 2000 to 1260 mm/ f 6.3
• C-9: from 2350 to 1480 mm/ f 6.3
• C-11: from 2800 to 1764 mm/ f 6.3
• C-14: from 3910 to 2457 mm/ f 7.3

The Celestron Focal Reducer can be used visually. The SC telescope can show its strengths on planets, globular clusters and planetary nebulae without the reducer and on galaxies and galactic nebulae with the reducer.

The reducer has the Celestron SC thread on both sides and is screwed directly onto the telescopes' tube.

Use with DSLR camera: A distance of approx. 105mm (backfocus) should be maintained. Screw the reducer directly onto the SC connection of the telescope and then onto the Celestron T-adapter for C5, 6, 8, 9.25, 11, 14. The T adaptors has an optical length of 50mm. A DSLR with a T2 ring has an optical length of 55mm in combination with the T-adapter, which is the right distance. In addition to the t2 rings & lens mounts, you therefore only need a t2 ring with the appropriate camera bayonet. Summarised: Telescope->Reducer->T-Adapter->T2-Ring->DSLR
