The 0.8x reducer was specially developed for use with the TeleVue NP127is and NP101is telescopes ("Nagler-Petzval Imaging System") . The reducer minimises vignetting with camera sensors up to 43 mm sensor diagonal (full frame) and is an improved replacement for the previous TeleVue 0.8x Reducer NP, which only worked with APS-C sensors and has now been discontinued. In combination with a TeleVue-Petzval telescope, this reducer shortens the focal length of the telescope by 20%, making it much faster. This also increases the field of view of the telescope by 25%.
This reducer has a thread on both sides for the TeleVue Imaging System. It is attached to the imaging insert supplied with the TeleVue NP127is and NP101is instruments. The other side accepts all spacers, camera adaptors and thread converters included in the TeleVue Imaging System.
The NP Reducer can also be used to enlarge the field of view of other telescopes with Petzval lens design, but does not provide additional correction for these models.
