The flattener is a lens that evens out the field, as this is slightly curved by the primary optics. This curvature causes stars that are imaged at the edge of the field of view to be less sharp. The flattener, also called a field flattener, corrects this effect. Astrophotographers can then enjoy images where the stars remain sharp right out to the edge of the exposure. The flattener is installed between the telescope and the camera.
Features of this flattener:
- The flattener is securely and stably screwed onto the focuser (M68x1 or M63x1).
- Required back focus on the refractor: from 145 mm from the threaded connection
- Illumination and full correction up to large format sensors
The Photoline flattener can be used on all apochromats with focusers from 2.5" diameter.
Scope of delivery:
- 2.5" corrector in a robust metal housing with M68x1 external thread connection on the telescope side and M68x1 internal thread connection on the camera side
- Reduction adapter from M68x1 to M63x1 for refractors with M63x1 internal thread (length 8.5 mm)
- M68x1 extension on the camera side (length 33 mm)
- Camera adapter with M68x1 external thread on the corrector side and M48x0.75 external thread on the camera side and 2" filter connection (length 5 mm)
- Metal dust caps for both sides
