iOptron introduces the iAFS, the most versatile electronic focuser currently available on the market: the iOptron iAFS focuser with iLock™ technology. The big advantage over other focusers: the iAFS is mounted along the optical axis and does not require a cumbersome mounting bracket that can tilt.
The key to the patented design of the iAFS focuser is the use of a lead screw. This passive position locking system secures heavy payloads (astrophotographic systems, imaging trains) in the stopped position and maintains focus even when the telescope is tilted. The iAFS has three focusing modes, a USB port for computer control, integrated direction buttons for manual adjustment, and a manual focus wheel. The latter is very practical, as it disengages the motorised adjustment for long focusing distances, allowing you to quickly get close to the focus manually.
Other features include an integrated temperature sensor, multiple USB-C ports, a solid all-metal housing, a dirt-resistant outer surface, an accuracy of 0.6 µm (3" version even 0.4 µm) and automatic position limitation to prevent "idling".
The focuser comes with a 2-inch connection as standard. This can also be used to connect a camera with a 2-inch barrel. Suitable camera adaptors for screw connections can be found in the accessories section. There you will also find the right adaptor for connecting to your telescope.
