With this spotting scope, Pentax has set an absolute milestone in the history of spotting scopes in terms of optical performance and build quality.
When using the XW zoom eyepiece, the images are completely error-free and true to colour, both intra- and extra-focal as well as focal! This is no surprise, as it uses lanthanum crown glass, a material that is also used in sophisticated apochromats for astronomy. In our opinion, this currently beats every competitor in this segment.
The short focal length of 630 mm with a 100 mm objective aperture and high light intensity has always guaranteed exceptional viewing pleasure. Just think of the legendary ZEISS APQ lenses with these performance data.
Of course, the accessories available for the two smaller sister models, the PF-80ED and PF-80EDa, can also be used to great advantage. The camera adapter transforms the PF-100ED into a first-class, highly corrected telephoto lens with a focal length of 1,250 mm!
