More about the series PF ED...
Pentax has responded to two demands with its PF-65ED II and PF-65EDa II spotting scopes:
The 65 spotting scopes are designed to be extremely short and lightweight, making them easy to handle even for people with physical limitations. This also ensures optimum portability.
The other requirement was determined by the market. People have less and less money in their bags. These spotting scopes are affordable for a wide range of buyers without compromising on quality.
The PF-65ED II and PF-65EDa II are not only fascinating high-performance spotting scopes for ornithologists, hunters and sport shooters. Enthusiastic amateur astronomers will also appreciate the easy-to-transport optics.
The imaging performance can rightly be described as excellent.
Daytime observations with the pre-production series already produced acceptable images even with focal lengths of around 3.5 mm. Night-time astronomical observations can still be carried out well with focal lengths of 5 mm thanks to the surprisingly fast lens, despite its small size. This means that they are in no way inferior to their larger brothers, the PF-80ED and PF-80EDa, in terms of quality.
