More about the series IM-3...
Inverted routine laboratory microscope with various observation methods:
Inverted microscopes are useful for observing living cells or organisms at the bottom of a large vessel (e.g. a tissue culture bottle). This allows observation under more natural conditions than on a slide, as is the case with a conventional microscope. The IM-3 series has been designed and engineered to be your ideal solution for fast and reliable routine examinations, featuring the exclusive, state-of-the-art X-LED8 illumination system . A particularly simple and sophisticated optical design enables stable alignments and smooth and accurate movements. OPTIKA offers various configurations, including innovative LED fluorescence technology for a new, improved experience.
IM-3
The IM-3 looks confidently to the challenges of the future, offering first-class optical quality and mechanical versatility to expand its use with various accessories. It ensures bright field and phase contrast observations at the highest level, as it is equipped with a set of 3 IOS LWD W-PLAN PH objectives (10x, 20x and 40x). The highly efficientX-LED8 makes it reliable for all transmitted light observations. It features an 8W LED with a colour temperature of 6300K and a lifetime of approximately 50,000 hours. The light intensity is controlled via a wheel on the left side of the frame.
The coaxial coarse and fine focus (graduated; 0.002 mm) has an upper stop to prevent contact between the sample and the objective.
The microscope stage (250x160 mm) can be used with both a glass and a metal inlay with an opening for small samples.
The trinocular microscope head is inclined at 45° and the left eyepiece has a dioptre adjustment. The eye relief can be individually adjusted within a range of 50-75 mm.
The condenser (N.A. 0.30; W.D. 72 mm) can be removed to extend the working distance to 150 mm and provides space for the pre-centred slide with phase contrast rings (4x/10x and 20x/40x).

Our expert comment:
Expert commentary by Prof. Dr. Guido Posern, Director Institute of Physiological Chemistry, Medical Faculty, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg:
"I have a very good impression. Assembly is simple. Everything works, with the exception of the attached setting eyepiece (I can't see anything with it; possibly wrong model, but it's not absolutely necessary either). The phase contrast is impeccable in all three lenses for standard cell cultures of mammalian cells. The phase plates are correctly tuned and clearly labeled. So far I can't find any disadvantages compared to our other, sometimes much more expensive ones. Brightfield is not very relevant for us, but apparently it also works OK. Whether the robustness of student use can withstand it has to be seen, but so far the device makes a solid and easy to operate impression.
Conclusion: an excellent cell culture microscope for standard applications in research with a top price-performance ratio!"
