The transmission properties of the L-RGB TYP 2c filters are optimised for CCD astrophotography: With this filter set, there are finally filters available that, unlike other suppliers, enable true-colour images of all objects. Both continuum emitters and objects that only emit in individual lines are reproduced in their true colours. You get CCD images that show the object in optimal colours, just as you would see it with the naked eye if your eye were sensitive enough. This filter series is the only one of its kind in the world, setting it apart from all other manufacturers.
How it works: The L-RGB filter set divides the spectrum into its components red, green, blue and luminance. This allows colour separations to be achieved with pure black and white sensors that correspond to the colour vision of the human eye according to DIN 5032. The sRGB colour space defined in 1996 makes it possible to maintain true colours throughout the entire production process, from image acquisition and image processing to printing. Manufacturers of monitors, image processing software and image output use this standard. With an Astronomik L-RGB filter set, you can use your camera to produce optimal source material for creating images in the sRGB colour space.
Tips and further usage information: In combination with Astronomik line filters, interesting details can be brought out from astronomical objects, for example when the red filter is replaced or supplemented by H-alpha or green by OIII.
For planetary photography and observation, colour filters are now often used for other purposes.
Suitability of the filter:
- Visual observation (country): Good, as a colour filter for planetary observation
- Visual observation (city): Good, as a colour filter for planetary observation
- CCD astrophotography: Very good, excellent colour separation for RGB and L-RGB images
- DSLR astrophotography (unmodified): Not suitable
- DSLR astrophotography (astronomically modified): Not suitable
- DSLR astrophotography (modified with MC clear glass): Not suitable
- Webcam / Video (Planets): Good, as a colour filter for images of planets
- Webcam / video (deep sky): Good, as a colour filter for images of planets
