Compare to a tripod, a monopod has the advantage of increased manoeuvrability and speed. This is ideal if you do not want to observe or take photos from a fixed location and want to move around the land instead. When in use, a monopod helps to hold the lens steady.
Additionally, a monopod is particularly easy to transport to its site of use, e.g. when packing for a journey.
The Hummingbird monopod comes with two interchangeable feet: a metal spike and a padded foot. The removable feet give you the right grip for use on pavement or off-road. Use the standard padded foot for smooth or paved surfaces and the metal spike for soft ground or other less stable conditions.
