The Al Haggounia 001 meteorite was discovered in 2006 near the town of Al Haggounia, Morocco. Several tonnes of material, attributed to a meteorite fall, were found across a scatter field measuring approximately 40 kilometres. The fall must have occurred several thousand years ago.
The meteorites are classified as achondrites of the aubrite subclass. A high content of the mineral enstatite is characteristic of these meteorites.
