The Askar WAF is a motor designed for the precise and automated focusing of astronomical telescopes. It has been specially developed to meet the requirements of demanding astrophotographers and combines a high-torque stepper motor with a precision worm gear. This enables even heavy camera and accessory set-ups to be focused reliably and with a high degree of repeatability.
A particular strength of the WAF is its high positioning accuracy: the smallest step size is less than 0.005 mm. This enables very fine adjustment of the focal plane and is particularly advantageous with fast lenses, high-resolution cameras and for automatic focus determination.
It can be mounted on a wide variety of different telescope focusers. An adjustable multifunctional mount facilitates adjustment. The WAF can be attached or removed with minimal effort.
The WAF supports ASCOM Alpaca and compatible software solutions. NINA can also work directly with the focuser without the need for an additional driver. Furthermore, the INDIGO protocol is supported, provided the relevant driver is installed.
Controls can be carried out either via a cable or wirelessly using the Askar app for Smartphones.
