This book is practical and aims to help readers acquire the background knowledge they need for their own observations and to awaken their interest in the beautiful phenomena that nature, light and the Earth's atmosphere offer us time and time again.

Most of the atmospheric phenomena described can also be seen in our latitudes. The selection of images for the book has been limited to Central Europe as far as possible to show that many phenomena do not depend on geographical latitude, but rather on the knowledge of the observer. After all, if you know where to look and under what circumstances the individual phenomena occur, you will also learn to see them.
