The telescope allows observation of the sun's surface, such as filaments and flares, as well as solar prominences.
With an aperture of 100 mm and an effective focal length of 1690 mm (f/16.9), the telescope delivers sharp, full-field solar images with excellent resolution. The integrated 4.3x telecentric barlow lens is optimised for transmission of the H-alpha line and ensures uniform illumination of the entire field.
The 18 mm diameter blocking filter (blockfilter) and the PID-controlled electronic tuning system ensure stable and precise adjustment to the H-alpha wavelength. Manual fine adjustment is possible with a range of ±0.5 Å in steps of 0.1 Å, allowing you to choose between emphasising the chromosphere and the prominences. This etalon system is based on DayStar's very popular QUARK filter and requires a power supply (USB 5 V, 1.5 A, Micro-B).
The two-stage 12:1 rack and pinion focuser developed by DayStar ensures smooth and precise focusing. It has a locking brake and is compatible with focusing motors such as the EAF from ZWO thanks to 6 mm and 4 mm shafts and three M4 mounting holes. The diameter of the fine focus cone is 34 mm when both knobs are removed.
The CNC-machined aluminium tube has a lockable, retractable dust cap and an integrated carrying handle that also serves as a solar finder.
