TG-SO Solar Observing Hood

If you want to observe the sun, you have to stand in the sun. The contrast between the bright surroundings and the relatively dark image in the eyepiece interferes with the adaptation of the eye. It is much more comfortable to view the sun under a hood. This also protects against sunburn.

The protective hood for solar observation has an outer layer that reflects sunlight. This keeps it relatively cool under the hood and regulates the temperature. An inner layer of opaque material provides the desired darkness. The hood can be adjusted to fit different solar telescopes using a Velcro fastener.
