IDAS Filters: Specialists in astrophotography
The Light Pollution Suppression (LPS) filters block artificial light and leave the natural colours intact. This is what distinguishes these filters from almost all UHC filters used in astrophotography. UHC filters are optimised for visual use and cause colouration of the sky background in photography.
The most important features of the IDAS LPS D1:
- Specially designed for photography with DSLR cameras and single-shot astro cameras
- Also suitable for luminance imaging with black-and-white cameras
- High-quality anti-reflection coating
- Particularly scratch-resistant hard coating
- Absorption of urban light pollution (mercury and sodium vapour lamps) and night glow
Exposure time extension - factor 2: The IDAS LPS D1 allows an exposure time extension by a factor of 2. However, 90% of the important lines in the deep sky range (e.g. H-Alpha and [O III]) are still transmitted. Put simply, you can expose twice as long until the sky background comes through, but the object appears much stronger and more contrasted against the background than without a filter.
