More about the series Gimbal Head...
How is it possible to move really heavy telephoto lenses as easily as a feather? With a gimbal suspension mounted on a sturdy tripod! There are several names for this useful instrument, which is particularly common in the USA, where it is called a gimbal head. In German, the technical term Kardankopf is probably the most accurate, although many photographers simply refer to it as Affenschaukel (monkey swing).
Leofoto PG-3 Gimbal Head made of 10-layer carbon material
Combines the lightness with the stability of carbon material! You will quickly appreciate the advantages of this material, especially when using an extremely heavy camera-lens combination. The large adjustment knobs allow you to optimally adjust the resistance on both axes. The height-adjustable adapter plate and the quick-release plate (Arca-Swiss style) that can be moved forwards and backwards allow you to optimally balance the weight of your camera equipment.
The centre of the lens is positioned exactly above the pivot point. This means that this gimbal head can also be used as a panoramic head. The 360° scale and the integrated spirit level on the base swivel joint help you to position the camera correctly.
The tripod head is made of high-quality 100% carbon, which is constructed in 10 layers and thus provides maximum vibration damping properties and stability with comparatively low weight.
Leofoto uses high-quality 6061-T6 aluminium alloy with magnesium and silicon as alloy components for the metal parts. This corrosion-resistant material is characterised by high strength and good toughness. The yield strength is comparable to that of structural steel. All parts are milled from solid material on state-of-the-art CNC machines and are therefore significantly more stable than cast parts. Leofoto makes no compromises here either !
