More about the series AstroSolar...
Please note: This product is currently not available in the US.
Digital solar imaging at highest magnifications and short exposure times.
- This highest precision film consistently produces strehl ratios of 94 to 96 percent at interferometric tests
- AstroSolar Photo Film OD 3.8 is only intended to be used by well-experienced Astro-imagers.
Important note: Not suitable for visual Solar Observation!
AstroSolar® Safety Film is manufactured from a special film free of streaks and bubbles and, with a thickness of just 0.010 mm, achieves the optical quality of plane-parallel glass filters. The backing material is not ‘Mylar’! This film was originally developed for laboratories engaged in nuclear and particle physics research.
Unlike glass filters,AstroSolar® is almost entirely free of pinholes (holes in the reflective layer), as it is coated on both sides. The coating is subject to constant quality control. The filter’s effectiveness and safety for solar observation are regularly measured. The quality of the solar image and eye safety are incomparably better than when using so-called emergency films or similar aids, which must be used in multiple layers.
The development ofthe AstroSolar® film was made possible solely by the enormous demand during the 1999 solar eclipse. During trials, dozens of kilometres of film were destroyed in order to develop the manufacturing processes for a film that is completely uniform at the molecular level on our behalf.
