Maximum brightness. Minimum height.
In poor light conditions, a large lens on a riflescope can mean the difference between a successful day's hunting and a hunter returning home empty-handed. Of course, this performance has traditionally come at the expense of high riflescope mounts or outdated stock designs – until now. Leupold's engineers developed the Light Optimisation Profile to give you all the advantages of a large lens with a low-
e mounting option. With the LOP, you can mount your riflescope 30 per cent closer to the barrel without losing image quality or light transmission.
The lens of the VX-3L has a crescent-shaped indentation; however, the round field of view remains unrestricted and a sharp image is achieved across the entire field of view.
This crescent-shaped recess in the lower part of the lens head forms the so-called "Light Optimisation Profile". This combines the advantages of a large lens for use at dusk or at night with a low mounting option for comfortable shooting with optimal cheek contact on the rear stock. The 50 mm VX-3L sits as low as a model with a 36 mm lens, but delivers 48.6 per cent more total light through a reticle that is almost twice as bright as previous models for daytime use.
In addition, the instruments in the VX-3L series also feature many of the optical delights of the VX-3 series:
Here are the most important ones in detail:
Xtended Twilight Lens System: Leupold revolutionised light management with its proprietary "Index Matched" lens system, which increased light transmission by coating each lens based on a specific glass type and refractive index. The Xtended Twilight lens system goes one step further by offering Leupold's specially adapted multi-layer coating, which tunes transmission to the wavelengths that prevail at dusk and dawn. This allows you to hunt longer in twilight than ever before.
The external lens surfaces feature DiamondCoat 2 multi-coating. It exceeds military standards for hardness and durability and supports light transmission for a brighter, higher-contrast image
.
Leupold's second generation of waterproofing: A new gas mixture of argon and krypton was used in the design of the VX-3 to create a waterproof seal. The molecules of these gases are significantly larger than those of nitrogen. This significantly reduces the diffusion of gases in the riflescope compared to nitrogen filling.
¼ MOA click adjustment: Low-temperature treatment for increased reliability and precision. The well-engaging clicks ensure the most accurate adjustment for unmatched precision. The system can be zeroed.
All lens edges are blackened to achieve unobstructed light transmission through each lens and to produce the best possible contrast.
The double spring reversal system is suitable for the most demanding applications. The dual spring design exerts up to 30% more holding force on the flip-up system than Leupold's already very robust standard flip-up systems.
Each VX-3 tube is robust, torsion-resistant and yet lightweight. It is manufactured from a single block of 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminium. Every single VX-3 riflescope is built to withstand any adventure.
Legendary Leupold ruggedness: The VX-3 undergoes the same rigorous testing as all other Leupold Golden Ring products. It is reliable in all situations.
A Leupold neoprene riflescope cover is included with purchase and protects the valuable Leupold optics during transport or storage.
The offer is rounded off by the Golden Ring and Leupold Medallion, which make the unique quality visible from afar: A special feature of the new VX-3 models is the gold-plated "Golden Ring" and logo (24 k) on each riflescope.
All in all:
VX-3L – truly the best of both worlds.
