More about the series EDG...
The new EDG-VR spotting scope models are the world's first*1 spotting scopes with VR (Vibration Reduction, image stabiliser) with a movable lens group. The image stabiliser algorithm is based on the advanced VR mechanism of NIKKOR VR lenses and has been optimised for spotting scopes.
The VR function compensates for external vibrations caused by wind or operating actions such as focusing, panning and tilting. The function reduces visible vibrations to approx. 1/8*² of the blurring caused by vibrations during normal observation. This makes it much easier to select the image section. Focusing accuracy is also improved, even when manually focusing during super-telephoto digiscoping. The effect of the system is equivalent to a shutter speed approximately two stops faster*² during digiscoping, which is particularly useful in difficult conditions, such as when it is windy.
The EDG-VR spotting scopes also use Nikon's proven ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass lenses, which ensure sharpness and a brilliant, clear image. The straight models also feature highly reflective dielectric multi-layer coating on the prisms for higher reflectivity and more contrast than ever before.
