The cameras in the PLxCam series have been specially developed for astrophotography. They are particularly light-sensitive and have been equipped with electronics and software that are optimised for applications in astronomy.
- A dedicated software has been developed for the cameras in this series, which fully exploits their potential and is intuitive to use: PLxCapture
- The integrated circuit with specific IC (FPGA) significantly reduces noise.
- There are three speeds for reading out the chip: high speed for planet, sun and moon photography; half maximum speed to reduce readout noise; 1/4 maximum speed for deep sky photography and improved visual mode with minimal readout noise.
- During long exposures, non-essential electronic components are put into energy-saving mode, which reduces the heating of these components and thus thermal noise.
- The cameras have an interface that allows communication with an optional GPS module or a regulated cooling system.
- It is possible to connect several cameras to a PC and control each camera via an instance of the PLxCapture software or autoguiding software.
- The PLxCapture software operates in client-server mode. Several configurations are possible: PLxCapture in server mode and the sequencer module in client mode; multiple cameras on multiple PCs can be controlled by a third party (e.g. via an Internet browser).
- The SDK (Software Development Kit) is available on request from the manufacturer for programming (Microsoft C# or C++).
The PLxCam series offers a variety of camerasfor different applications and budgets.
