The ALccd-QHY 5 is a very light and small special camera for autoguiding and planetary photography.
The camera is equipped with a powerful CMOS chip. This is characterised by extremely low noise and high light sensitivity. The resolution corresponds to that of a comparable CCD chip. However, the CMOS has lower power consumption and is also less expensive.
The camera does not require an external power supply. Power is supplied via the USB cable included in the delivery. A standard RJ-12 autoguider cable is also included. This works, for example, with the Koch FS2, Vixen StarBook, Sky-Watcher SynScan, Celestron NexStar, Losmandy Standard and Gemini (including older versions), Takahashi Temma, Astrophysics, Pulsar and many more controls.
For autoguiding, we recommend the ASCOM-compatible software packages MSB AstroArt, PHD or MaxIm DL. For recording, we recommend ALccd-QHY's own software EZPlanetary.
The small pixel size also allows high-resolution images to be taken at shorter focal lengths without the need for a Barlow lens.
The camera has a 1.25" plug. However, as the camera housing itself fits this plug, it can be inserted directly into the focuser. A stop ring can be used to set the insertion depth reproducibly.
