The ASI462MM is a black-and-white planetary camera that uses the 12-bit ADC sensor Sony IMX462 in 1/2.8" format. The pixel size of 2.9 µm allows a depth of 11.2 ke- with a total of 2.1 megapixels.
The camera is particularly powerful in the infrared range. With its high sensitivity, extremely low readout noise and very fast frame rate, this camera will deliver great performance for planetary, lunar and solar photography.
Like the other cameras, the ASI462MM impresses with its versatile application possibilities, such as:
- Planetary photography – here, the extremely high frame rates help with data acquisition for stacking, while IR luminance images reduce the influence of air turbulence in every single image.
- Moon photography – the features that are valued in planetary photography are also helpful when photographing details on the moon.
- Sun photography (with suitable filtering!) – the high frame rate reduces the influence of air turbulence
- Deep sky photography (the camera is uncooled, but the CMOS sensor offers good noise performance)
- Autoguiding camera
- Thanks to oaCapture, the camera can also be used with a Mac.
