In brief:
- Neutral colour distribution
- Ideal for use with various colour and interference filters
- Coated on both sides
- Robust thread inserts and nylon knurled screws ensure a secure fit
With AstroSolar™, the sun appears in neutral white. Other film and glass filters produce a blurred, bluish or reddish image in which part of the spectrum is cut off. Especially with an orange sun, it is very difficult to see faculae regions, which are predominantly in the blue range of the spectrum.
Due to its neutral colour distribution, AstroSolar™ allows the use of different colour or interference filters, enabling the observer to concentrate on specific spectral transmission ranges for investigating different layers within the sun's "atmosphere". AstroSolar™ is essentially free of pinholes because, unlike even the most expensive glass filters, it is coated on both sides, so the probability of two pinholes overlapping is extremely low. The Baader AstroSolar™ safety film has been approved by the PTB for eye safety. All processes associated with this product have been thoroughly tested. Coatings are constantly tested for durability to ensure the safety of your eyes.
Baader AstroSolar™ film filters are made of lightweight aluminium and powder-coated white. Robust threaded inserts and nylon knurled screws ensure a secure fit.
