Optika B-383PHi trinocular phase contrast microscope, IOS W-Plan PH, 100x–1000x
The Optika B-383PHi is a high-quality trinocular phase contrast microscope designed for demanding applications in laboratories, education, research, routine analysis, central laboratories and advanced amateur microscopy. With brightfield, phase contrast and dry dark field modes, this microscope offers flexible contrast methods for transparent, unstained or low-contrast specimens.
The combination of infinity-corrected IOS optics, IOS W-Plan PH lenses, an ergonomic 50/50 trinocular head and powerful X-LED³ transmitted light illumination makes the B-383PHi a versatile solution for users who wish to perform observation and document fine structures, microorganisms, water samples, particles and biological specimens with high contrast.
Phase contrast, brightfield and dry dark field in a single microscope
The Optika B-383PHi phase contrast microscope supports three key observation techniques: bright-field microscopy, phase contrast microscopy and simple dry dark field. Phase contrast is particularly suitable for transparent or low-contrast specimens where structures need to be visualised without the need for complex staining.
Dry dark field microscopy highlights fine structures, particles, edges and contours with high contrast. This makes the microscope particularly suitable for water samples, micro-organism observation, education, routine laboratory work, quality control and hobby microscopy.
Trinocular 50/50 head for observation and documentation
The trinocular microscope head of the Optika B-383PHi features an ergonomic 30° oblique viewing angle and can be rotated through 360°. The 50/50 split allows the phototube to be used for camera applications, digital documentation or image analysis.
The adjustable interpupillary distance of 48 to 75 mm ensures comfortable use for different users. The dioptre adjustment on the left-hand eyepiece tube allows for individual adjustment. The WF10x/20 mm high-eyepoint eyepieces are comfortable to use and are also suitable for longer periods of work at the microscope.
IOS W-Plan PH lenses for 100x to 1000x total magnification
The B-383PHi is equipped with infinity-corrected IOS W-Plan PH lenses. In combination with the WF10x eyepieces, this results in total magnifications of 100x, 200x, 400x and 1000x.
The objective set comprises:
- IOS W-Plan PH 10x/0.25, working distance 10 mm
- IOS W-Plan PH 20x/0.40, working distance 5.1 mm
- IOS W-Plan PH 40x/0.65, working distance 0.54 mm
- IOS W-Plan PH 100x/1.25 oil, working distance 0.13 mm
The lenses are treated with an anti-fungal coating. This supports long-term use in laboratory and educational settings.
Abbe condenser for brightfield, phase contrast and dry dark field
A key advantage of the Optika B-383PHi is its versatile Abbe condenser for brightfield, phase contrast and dry dark field. The condenser has five positions for different contrast methods.
The condenser has the positions BF, 10x/20x, 40x, 100x and DF. This allows the microscope to be quickly switched between brightfield, phase contrast and dry dark field. The numerical aperture is 0.9 / 1.25. An iris diaphragm enables the contrast to be adjusted to suit the specimen and objective.
The condenser is detachable, centring and focusable via a rack-and-pinion mechanism. This allows the illumination system to be precisely adapted to different specimens and observation techniques.
X-LED³ lighting with fixed Köhler configuration
The integrated X-LED³ transmitted light illumination provides bright, white light with a colour temperature of 6300 K. The light intensity is adjusted manually via a rotary control mounted on the side of the tripod.
The lighting is designed as a fixed Köhler system. Power is supplied via an external multi-plug power pack (100–240 V AC / 6 V DC). A compatible solar battery unit is available as an option, enabling flexible use where access to the mains supply is limited.
Ergonomic laboratory stand for precise routine work
The sturdy tripod of the Optika B-383PHi is designed for comfortable and precise work in everyday laboratory use. The coaxial coarse and fine focus mechanisms enable precise focusing. The fine focus has a 0.002 mm graduation, whilst the coarse focus offers adjustable rotational resistance.
An integrated stop protects the specimen and objective from accidental contact. The five-position, ball-bearing-mounted objective revolver allows for quick changes between lenses. The double-layer, rackless cross-table measures 233 x 147 mm and offers a travel range of 78 x 54 mm. The vernier scale, with an accuracy of 0.1 mm, facilitates precise specimen positioning.
