The large lens diameter offers high resolution, brightness and – because there is no secondary optics to interfere with the beam path – high contrast, so astrophotographers will enjoy more detail and brighter objects in their images. The Askar APO is equipped with a triplet objective that features ED glass to virtually eliminate the colour aberration typical of lenses.
The Askar APO has two finder shoes. This provides an additional mounting position for further astronomical accessories. The handle is designed so that it can also serve as a base for accessories. The tube clamps, which weigh only 1.7 kilograms, have a large knurled screw that allows for easy opening and closing.
The Losmandy prism rail is compatible with most larger mounts on the market. The length of the rail (300 mm) makes it easier to balance the telescope on the mount.
Integrated tube extension: The tube has an integrated extension that can be pulled out or pushed in as required and locked in place with a clamping ring. This means that the APO can be used not only for photography but also for visual observation. The working distance is large enough to use diagonal mirrors and binocular attachments.
The Askar APO is equipped with a sturdy 3.5-inch focuser with reduction gear, which is also compatible with most focus motors on the market. The entire focuser is CNC-milled and has an anti-reflective coating on the inside, which provides additional protection against stray light. The focuser features a large 360° precision rotator with scales for convenient and accurate adjustment. The large locking screw holds the rotator securely in the desired position, even under high loads.
