The AP 151/1057 optics are a Flatfield Astrograph with a moderate aperture ratio. Instead of purchasing additional flatteners, calculating the back focus of the flattener and then laboriously adjusting the distance, astrophotographers can simply equip it with any camera, focus on the object, and then the entire optical system is ready for shooting.
The triplet lens with two ED glass elements provides excellent control of chromatic aberrations. The fourth integrated lens serves as a field flattener. It supports a 60 mm image circle suitable for medium format CMOS cameras, has an excellent spot diagram with minimal distortion of the edge stars, and its central RMS radius is less than 2 micrometres.
The Askar 151PHQ is a true allrounder. It was designed as a telescope for almost all areas of use:
- With its large corrected field of view, even extended objects can be captured. However, fine details of objects can also be reproduced when high-resolution cameras are used.
- The use of different cameras with different flange focal distances is no problem. Simply focus and you are at the correct distance. There is no need for adapters.
- The focuser has a large adjustment range, so you can find the focus without any problems.
- The working distance or back focus from the 2" barrel is long enough to allow the use of 2" diagonal mirrors. This turns the Flatfield apochromat into a large-field telescope or even a planetary telescope, depending on the eyepiece used.
