Product description

Dobsonian telescopes are among the most practical instruments in astronomy. They are of simple construction and yet a brilliant idea. They essentially consist of two parts: firstly the optics, which in most cases is a solid tube or truss tube design; and secondly the mount, a wooden box (also called a 'rocker box') which sits on the ground and into which the telescope is inserted. This design allows you to begin observing sessions immediately without first having to spend time setting up and aligning a complicated mount. The basic idea of the Dobsonian design came from the wish to have a big telescope at a low price, a wish that has succeeded brilliantly. A true fan base has developed since the invention of the Dobsonian telescope which is dedicated to these instruments and their fascinating simplicity and to the idea of 'high performance at low price'.

The N 250/1270 optical system: This Newtonian telescope already offers a large aperture for detailed deep-sky observations. It gathers almost three times as much light as a 114mm telescope. Whilst smaller telescopes can only reveal the central regions of many galaxies, this telescope reveals spiral structures. Globular clusters also appear as fascinating objects through this giant; some will present themselves across the entire field of view with numerous individual stars resolved. The fast aperture ratio ensures a bright image.

The 10-inch telescope still fits on the back seat of a car, so it remains portable. Larger Newtonian telescopes are only practical for use in the garden, at observatories or as collapsible truss-tube models. With a telescope of this size, nothing stands in the way of a lifelong passion for the night sky!

The mount and tripod of a dobson telescope are collectively known as the rocker box. The dimensions of this model are 541 x 541 x 623 millimetres, and it weighs 11.6 kilograms

It not only matters which telescope you buy but also where you buy it. Our additional services:
