The Sharpstar SCA310 is a powerful Cassegrain Astrograph designed specifically for deep sky astrophotography. With its large aperture, fast f/3.8 system, high-quality corrector and robust mechanical design, it delivers sharp and very well-corrected images across a large sensor area – ideal for ambitious astrophotography applications.
Optics:
- Cassegrain reflector with integrated coma corrector
- Aperture ratio: 1178 mm, f/3.8, which ensures short exposure times – ideal for deep sky photography!
- Primary mirror: Aspherical (parabolic) mirror surface that minimises spherical aberration
- Secondary mirror: Fused silica glass for precise focusing and thermal stability
- Coating: Enhanced aluminium with > 95% reflectivity for maximum light efficiency
- Integrated 3-inch triplet corrector with an ED glass lens to minimise field curvature and coma – for sharp, round stars from centre to edge.
Focuser / Eyepiece extension:
- 3.5" rack-and-pinion focuser with 28 mm focus travel and 1:10 fine drive
- 360° rotator: allows the camera to be rotated for perfect orientation to the subject
- Adaptors and connections: M68, M54, M48 (M48 with integrated 2" filter thread) – high compatibility with cameras, filters and accessories
Mechanics:
- Carbon fibre tube – lightweight, stable and thermally stable during night-time temperature changes
- Mounting via Losmandy rail with a length of 405 millimetres
- Handle design: Well-designed handle that offers many options for attaching additional accessories
- Cooling: Three rear fans for rapid temperature adjustment of the primary mirror
The Sharpstar SCA310 is aimed at ambitious astrophotographers who:
- want to photograph large deep-sky objects with short exposure times
- are looking for high image quality across a large field of view
- use modern camera sensors (including full-frame)
- need robust and thermally stable optics for long exposure sessions.
Its professional design, large aperture ratio and precise mechanics make it suitable for advanced photographers and observatories.
