In brief:
- Tube weight only 5.4 kg
- Aperture ratio of f/12 - ideal for the Moon & planets
- High reflectivity (96-99%)
- Quartz glass – very temperature stable
The Cassegrain with its good aperture ratio of f/12 is primarily aimed at moon and planet observers. Photography of the planets in our solar system is also very beautiful with a Cassegrain of this type, especially with small-pixel CMOS cameras such as the ZWO ASI 178. The built-in parabolic quartz mirror is extremely temperature stable and cools down very quickly thanks to the open design of the tube. The mirror, manufactured by GSO, also has a particularly high reflectivity of between 96 and 99%.
The 2-inch focuser is equipped with a 1:10 fine focus and can also safely support heavy accessories. For astrophotography, the illuminated image field is 40 mm! This Cassegrain can also be used to photograph compact planetary nebulae or globular clusters. The f/12 aperture ratio is ideal for all bright, compact objects – however, it is not suitable for extensive, faint nebulae and galaxies!
The light weight of only 5.4 kg makes the compact 6" Cassegrain very portable and allows it to work very well even on medium-sized mounts.
