The AP 70/420 optics: The triplet lens with a 70 mm aperture and 420 mm focal length meets the criteria of a fully apochromatic lens. Even at high magnifications, the image is free of annoying colour fringing. Even bright stars are rendered without annoying blue fringing in astrophotography.
The central element of the lens is made of FPL55 optical glass, which is comparable to the well-known FPL53. Another special glass supports colour correction. The triplet lens with air gap is fully adjustable. Each optical glass-air surface is multi-coated. The lens is in a temperature-compensated mount.
The smallest apo in this series impresses with features that are usually only found in larger apochromats. The objective is colour-pure and, with the appropriate correctors, even outshines expensive telephoto lenses. The mechanics and focuser also meet the highest standards. The compact apo is suitable for small camera mounts such as the SkyGuider from iOptron, the EQ3 or even for good photo tripods.
2.0" rack & pinion focuser: The large focuser is optimised for photography and can carry a load of up to 6 kg – more than enough for heavy cameras with accessories! An M54x0.75 internal thread is available for screw-in adapters. The focuser also offers 360° rotation for selecting the right image section.
For astrophotography, we recommend the 0.8x flattener/reducer from the recommended accessories. It increases the aperture ratio to f/4.8 and is designed for full-frame cameras. The flattener can be screwed directly into the thread of the focuser and has an M48x0.75 thread on the camera side. The back focus is 55 millimetres. This is ideal for DSLR cameras with the appropriate bayonet adaptor. You will also find these in the accessories section.
