The standard photo screws, which are intended for attaching large binoculars to tripods & mounts, tilt heads and fork mounts, prove to be far too short in practice, with a maximum of 3 threads. These screws cannot support such heavy binoculars stably and safely in the long term. For this reason, we have developed a simple but effective adaptation system that enables stable and secure mounting. On top of that, it also enables better balancing of the binoculars.
If you wish to mount your Nightstar 20+40 x 100 on either the Omegon fork mount or the Vixen HF2 fork mount, the following additional accessories are required.
For the Omegon fork mount, the distance adapter product 49673 and the Omegon GP rail
. In addition, two 1/4" photo screws are required.
For the Vixen HF2 fork with mounting plate, the Omegon premium clamp is required in addition to the accessories mentioned above.
With a little manual dexterity, you can of course attach this clamp to the mounting plate yourself. If this is not possible, we can do this for you with Art. No. 15200.

The currently available Omegon NightStar 20-40x100 is a further development of its popular predecessor with the same lens diameter. The new version is a three-lens objective with special glass. As a result, sharpness and image field levelling have been noticeably improved once again. The scope of delivery includes 2 pairs of eyepieces for 20x and 40x magnification. The eyepieces have a front thread for standard 1.25 inch nebulae filters. This makes the Nightstar ideal for the observation of large-area objects such as the North American Nebula, the Veil Nebula or the California Nebula. We recommend the use of a UHC filter.
In addition to 20x and 40x, further magnifications are possible. Standard astro eyepieces can simply be used. During a test, we were very impressed by the sharpness and contrast of the 100mm lenses. The instruments are unique in its price class! With the 40x eyepieces, we were able to observe the buildings on the Zugspitze over a distance of 72km(!!) from our company headquarters in Landsberg! To capture the impression, we positioned a digital SLR camera behind the eyepieces. The cable of the Zugspitze cable car was still visible (albeit faintly) in the pictures!
