This high-quality telescope for the observation of the sun in H-alpha light leaves nothing to be desired. DayStar, the specialist for solar telescopes, combines an h-alpha filter with a multi-coated achromat duplet:
- Compact telescope tube - also suitable for smaller mounts
- Crayford focussing with fine reduction
- Transport cases made of aluminium
- incl. DayStar QUARK filter
- 2" diagonal mirrors with dielectric coating
The Solar Scout solar telescope is equipped with the QUARK h-alpha filters from DayStar. The special thing about it: you can remove the QUARK filter to use it with other optics! Without the QUARK filter, the telescope can be used for "classic" astronomical observations during the night: discover the moon, the planets and various deep sky objects, even photographically!
An integrated heating system uses thermal expansion to regulate the exact distance in the QUARK etalon filter. Before starting an observation, you should therefore wait about 10 minutes until the temperature has stabilised. When the LED on the Filter has changed from yellow to green, you can start the observation. A rotary knob on the Filter allows you to vary the transmitted centre wavelength by +/- 0.5 angstroms. A USB power pack is included in the scope of delivery for the necessary power supply. After each adjustment, you should wait briefly until the temperature has stabilised again (green LED). If you turn the knob clockwise, the central wavelength is lengthened slightly. This makes redshifted structures (redshift) visible, i.e. structures that move away from us. Turning the knob anti-clockwise shifts the centre wavelength towards shorter wavelengths.
DayStar offers two variants of the QUARK H-alpha module, each with a filter effect optimised for a preferred purpose:
Both variants have the same price. It is merely a matter of optimisation: the half-width of the prominence variant is slightly larger. Due to the higher light transmission, even the finest prominences can be recognised at the edge of the sun. The chromospheric version has a smaller half-width and therefore images structures on the solar disc in high spectral resolution.
Of course, you can also observe prominences with the chromosphere model and vice versa.
Corresponding to the two variants of the QUARK filter, there is a prominence and a chromosphere version for every H-alpha solar telescope from DayStar.
Also included in the scope of delivery is a sturdy case made of aluminium, in which this high-quality telescope can be ideally stored and safely transported.
