The compact Klevtsov-Cassegrain optics is an interesting catadioptric design that contains a primary and secondary mirror as well as a small correction lens to fold the focal length of the telescope to a relatively small size. The optics are ideal for observing double stars, planets or surface details on the moon. Terrestrial nature observation is also possible.
The Virtuoso GTI mount pans to selected objects and guides the telescope. The mount creates its own WLAN, over which you can wirelessly connect your smartphone. The free SynScan app for iOS and Android allows you to initialise and control the mount. Once the app is installed on your smartphone, you no longer need internet access to have control.
Other features:
- Freedom-Find™ dual encoder: you can manually move the telescope without losing previously-stored position information. This allows you to pan without using the motors. This is quick and saves power.
- The table stand has a 3/8" photo thread on the underside, so that it can be attached directly to a tripod. The base measures 330 millimetres in diameter.
- The telescope tube is attached using a Vixen prism rail. Other optics can also be attached provided they also have his type of prism rail.
Special features of the SynScan app:
- Freeware for iOS and Android mobile devices (not compatible with SynScan hand controller)
- Database: Total 10,000 objects. Deep Sky Objects: 10759, including Messier, NGC, IC, Caldwell catalogue, named DeepSky objects, named stars: 305, double stars: 55, Solar System objects: 7 planets, Sun, Moon
- Alignment method: Choice of 1-star alignment, 3-star alignment, brightest star alignment, north level alignment
- Additional features: Highlights of the night, star tour, identification of celestial objects, remote control via the Internet, user-defined objects, pointing accuracy enhancement (PAE)
The mount can be placed on the tabletop tripod or the included tripod with extendable legs. This allows the telescope to always be set up to suit the observation location. It fits on a balcony table for observing the moon and bright planets from the city, or can be placed on the lawn in the garden with the tripod.
