The AC 90/500 optical system is ideal for surveying large areas of the sky. Open star clusters, in particular, are shown to great effect!
However, the 9-centimetre-diameter objective lens gathers enough light to perform observations on other Messier objects as well. Messier objects are star clusters, galaxies, planetary nebulae and supernova remnants that the French astronomer Charles Messier (1730–1817) recorded in his catalogue of nebula-like objects. Set out on hunting for Charles Messier’s objects!
Of course, the world of the planets is also open to you: observe Saturn’s rings and Jupiter’s moons! However, this telescope’s relatively large field of view makes it particularly well-suited to comet observation.
The azimuthal single-arm mount is for taking smaller telescopes. It is easy to transport and quick to set up for use. Just attach the telescope to the mounting arm via its prism rail and you're ready to go. After the observing, you can use the handle to separate the optics from the mount and hence transport both conveniently and safely.
As the clamp is standardized for taking a prism rail, you can use it with a variety of different telescopes
